On Monday, 17 February 2025, our guest will deliver a seminar talk. Interested students and researchers can also attend the short course that follows.
Gaetano Falcone (University of Naples „Federico II“, Italy)
Ubi major, minor cessat? Extending local seismic site response to a national scale
You are very welcome to attend the seminar, which will take place at 14:00 in the Mineralogical Auditorium (room 129, Albertov 6, Prague 2). A short course is also being organised, where more in-depth content will be provided. For further information, please contact Gianvito Scaringi (gianvito.scaringi@natur.cuni.cz).
Dr. Gaetano Falcone is a researcher at the Department of Civil, Building, and Environmental Engineering at the „Federico II“ University of Naples, Italy, where he teaches „Geotechnical Risk in urban areas“. He earned a PhD from the Polytechnic University of Bari, Italy, with a thesis on seismic microzonation. His current interests span from seismic risk mitigation to the evaluation of the seismic performance of structural emergency systems and the numerical simulation of various boundary value problems, under both static and dynamic conditions, with emphasis on areas featuring complex geomorphology and uneven topography. He has been involved in numerous national and international research projects, including ReLUIS – the Network of Seismic and Structural Engineering Laboratories, and PRENOLIN – the International Benchmark on 1D nonlinear site-response analysis.
