Geochemists associated with the WP5 of the Geohazards project (WP5) together with many colleagues from other Czech research institutions and in a close collaboration with the University of Botswana (UB) visited abandoned mining sites in the northeastern Botswana to collect samples of soils, sediments, water and waste to understand the fate of metallic contaminants in such polluted semi-arid environmental systems.
